Representing growth and new beginnings, this koru necklace has a rounded back and an arm which curves inward to a point like the arm of the silver fern frond does as it grows. We've crafted it in two colours and multiple sizes. The first is a green from a very remote area of Canada, while the second is an oxide black from the red sands of Australia.

Koru / Spiral

Koru / Spiral

Resembling the unfurling frond of the native New Zealand silver fern, the Koru connects us to new beginnings, hope for the future, and the good that will follow.

Pounamu Koru

A fundamental symbol in Māori art, the koru symbolises life and creation, with its fluid circular shape conveying the idea of everlastingness.

Depicting new beginnings, life and hope.

The koru is a beloved symbol throughout Aotearoa, seen painted on tipuna (meeting houses), waka (canoes), in traditional Tā moko (Māori tattooing) and on wood and greenstone carvings. Pounamu artists use the koru pattern in many different ways; often introducing it as surface-etching or detail into other forms and shapes. It is though to depict new beginnings, life and hope.

    Great necklace

Originally, I had bought a mountain jade necklace matte koru necklace (20mm x 20mm) back in 2019 when I had visited New Zealand. I loved the necklace and was heart broken, when I accidentally broke it during weight lifting. I had bought this necklace (30mm x 30mm) and the jade matte koru necklace (30mm x 30mm) to see if they would be worthy replacements. While the two necklaces are wonderful, they could not replace the smaller matte jade koru necklace I had bought in 2019. I had reached out to customer service to try and find a replacement koru necklace and Jessie, that wonder person was able to help! After some digging, Jessie found the exact size I wanted and helped me purchase it! If any Mountain Jade reps are reading this, please give Jessie a raise! Jessie went above and beyond, and helped me so much.
